[Sinopse]
A história se passa em um mundo ficcional com tecnologia medieval. Politicamente, ele consiste em um grande número de cidades independentes e espalhadas pelo mundo. Nesse mundo, humanos coexistem com criaturas chamadas Youma (em japonês: ??, Youma?), seres sensitivos que se alimentam de vísceras humanas. Os Youmas, sendo metamorfos, são capazes de adquirir a forma humana e viver entre eles. Consumindo as vísceras de um humano, o Youma é capaz de absorver as suas memórias e personalidade também, permitindo que eles se disfarcem em uma pessoa especificamente sem levantar suspeitas para seus amigos e familiares. .
